Интересно, покрывают ли традиционные авто-страховки ущерб машинам в рамках нынешних беспорядков.

По идее - должны.

Посмотрел у себя Exceptions в T&C, пишут что:

"All loss, damage, cost or expense of whatsoever nature directly or indirectly caused by, resulting from or in connection with any of the following regardless of any other cause of event contributing concurrently or in any other sequence to the loss: any act of terrorism, war, civil war, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostilities, or warlike operations (whether war be declared or not) mutiny, civil commotion assuming the proportions of or amounting to a popular rising, military rising, insurrection, rebellion, revolution, military or usurped power, confiscation, nationalization, requisition or any act of any person acting on behalf or in connection with any organisation with activity directed towards the overthrow by force or its Government de jure or de facto."

То есть вопрос в том, как будут квалифицировать то, что происходит — "civil commotion" или нет.

...а в другом месте в T&C используют слово "riot":

Riot, civil commotion, war, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power or confiscation, nationalisation, requisition, destruction or damage to property by or under the order of any government or public or local authority.

ну, вопрос в том где заканчивается бытовой вандализм и начинается riot, civil disobedience etc.
